Personality
Dawn is a very insecure about her inability to control her powers, although they are not really dangerous to others they are a source of great embarrassment, but she tries her best to hide it by laughing which just ends up making her feel worse. She usually avoids contact with people unless there is a great need for it, but it is always hard to avoid people when she is in school, luckily she has yet to have an incident there. Though she may seem shy Dawn is actually extremely friendly, and has an annoying habit pf rambling, sometimes for a long time without taking a breath, but this only usually happens when she is nervous. She isn’t much of an optimist, but can sometimes see the lighter side of a situation, she has a tendency to become depressed quite a bit though this is most due to her concerns over her powers.
Although she loves her family greatly, she feels she has little in common with them and has a deep rivalry with her brother, the only person who doesn’t know she has powers. Dawn has a great jealousy towards him, wondering why he got to be normal and she turned out the way she did. Dawn has a severe fear of the dark, going into a somewhat catatonic state if she is left in a dark room for too long, covering her ears so as not to hear the things she thinks are there with her. She finds it difficult to make friends, usually feeling that anyone who would become her friend would cut off contact with her as soon as they found out that her powers were unpredictable, not bothering to listen about what exactly her powers were, judging her before they knew the truth, this causes Dawn to be somewhat of a recluse most of the time, keeping herself to herself.
History
Dawn was born in Germany; her parents had been out there visiting friends when her mother went into labour a few weeks prematurely. She was born healthy with no problems, but her elder brother wasn’t impressed, he had wanted a brother rather than a sister and refused to have anything to do with her at the hospital. A week later Dawn’s mother was deemed well enough to leave the hospital and she and her parents returned home with her brother. Dawn developed a really intense fear of the dark at an early age, never daring to enter any room that did not have a light on, and if the lights went out during a storm she would cuddle close to her mother burying her face in her arms. One day Dawn’s brother Josh locked her in the cupboard under the stairs as a cruel joke because of her fear of the dark. He left her there intending to come back later and let her out, if he felt like it, she cried pitifully banging on the door as hard as she could, screaming for her mother before finding herself on the floor outside in the hallway unsure of how she had gotten there.
She thought nothing else of the incident forgetting it completely besides telling her mother of her brothers, strange things happened to her from then on, her books would fall through her hands when she would read, she would wake up and find herself lying under her bed with no recollection of how she had gotten there, it was at this point that she told her parents. They were obviously shocked and decided not to tell her Josh about it in fear that he would only torment his sister further, Dawn’s relationship with her parents was somewhat awkward after that, and she became reclusive, locking herself in her bedroom for hours just to avoid being around them. Her powers got more out of control, but she found that she could control them sometimes with a great effort of will, but she still had accidents, and whilst she still had to go to school regardless of what her parents referred to as her ‘condition’, Dawn was satisfied to remain by herself, not bothering to make new friends, or talk to anyone.

Roleplay Example
School, a part of life most people would wish to forget given the chance, that time in your life where growing up seems to take forever and so did the classes. Those few people who were desperate to be accepted by their piers, even if they were the class geek and had little to no hope of that ever happening, and whilst Dawn had not interest in making friends with the popular crowd or anyone for that matter, she definitely considered herself a geek. A long drawn out sigh escaped her pale lips as she carried her belongings along the mostly deserted hallway, her ‘regimental’ dark brown rucksack slung over her shoulder in a messy fashion. Well she was here for another day though she didn’t really want to be but then who could say they enjoyed school what with all the boring lessons and embarrassing gym classes it was bad enough that she had powers, but did they have to make it so obvious that she had no athletic ability?
She walked past a small group of boys who were discussing something, she wasn’t really sure what, but it was probably something she had no interest in. Boys, boys were a different species she was sure, what with their love of football and tendencies to gobble their food like pigs, as far as she was concerned boys were gross and thus she avoided them like the plague. The tip of her chestnut ponytail graced her neck lightly as she looked down at the small crumpled piece of paper in her hand that she had recently tried to smooth out to make it at least somewhat readable, ‘room 122’ it said in bold letters, ok so this would be her first visit to the dreaded ‘122' ok not so much dreaded, but detention wasn’t exactly something you wanted to get in school, especially if you were generally a good student, but honestly who wouldn’t hit another girl when she’d just thrown her lunch allover you?
Saphire eyes looked up from the paper only to find the number she was searching for was right in front of her, she took a step back and adjusted her rucksack strap before placing a delicate hand onto the door handle taking a deep breath before pushing it open. Perhaps she had been expecting too much from the room, after all detention wasn’t something she was used to, she had depicted bars on the windows and her fellow ‘inmates’ dressed in prison style attire and walking around in chains, well there were the uniforms, albeit school ones but then she should have known that it wouldn’t live up to her imagination. She stood in the doorway for a long time before the other children in the room looked to the door, one blowing a bubble with some pink gum before looking away. The teacher approached her and pointed to an empty desk with a stern look on his face, you’d swear she was some sort of hardened criminal or something the way he was acting.
She made her way to the desk quickly sitting down only to fall off two seconds later in an attempt to place her bag under the desk, the class erupted in laughter and Dawn smiled sheepishly before stuffing her rucksack under the desk sharply, slamming her head down on the desk, burying her face in her arms as the class fell silent, muffled words leaving her lips, but it was perhaps best that they were muffled, why was she such a clutz? She always did something stupid when she was trying to avoid attention, perhaps she should just have started being flamboyant maybe then people would ignore her? But she knew that wasn’t true, it just seemed that everyone was paying attention when you did something stupid, and not when you did something good.
